Tomorrow, I will catch a plane to Memphis, Tennessee to audition on Saturday at the United Professional Theatre Auditions. Over 80 companies will be in attendance hoping to cast their seasons, which is a perfect fit really, because I'm hoping to be cast in their seasons. I'm really looking forward to auditioning and forming working relationships with the various directors and representatives I'll be meeting. Stay tuned for how everything goes!
One of the goals I've had for the past year or so was to record an album, which, at the time, seemed like a pretty ambiguous goal seeing as how being a singer/songwriter has never really been on my radar and I really only know a few chords on the guitar and piano. However, last semester I was so fortunate to be a part of an original work by Lisette Glodowski, titled Velvet Over Steel. The piece includes a beautiful story and some really gorgeous songs (I think mine are the best, but I'm a little biased). We mounted a workshop production of the musical at the end of our spring semester this past year, and overall, it was such a rewarding and exciting experience to be able to originate a role. All that being said, on December 28th, the cast will be reuniting to record a cast album of the show! I am so grateful for this opportunity, and it's just icing on the cake that I will be completing a goal I set out for myself a while ago when I really had no idea how it would be accomplished. I love the journey this career takes me on.
I'm very excited to be attending the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions in Memphis, Tennessee in February. I will be auditioning on Saturday, February 3rd and will be in town for a few days after that. This is the first step in solidifying where I'll be headed after I graduate, and I'm excited to start the process of figuring that out.
